Made a nice shifter today, cut the end ball off and extended it 35mm, then extended ears on the gearbox by 35mm, much shorter throw, before it would of been nearly a foot throw, probably not that bad but much better now. Started moving the seat a little, looking at getting it a bit lower closer to the tunnel and rearward a tad, when the cars out of shape im not really comfortable limited a bit in arm room.

Also on the lookout for a Vanette H165 4.875:1 diff centre... phoning around today I didn't have too much luck, I found one but don't really want to play games with the bloke, when I asked what ratio it was he said he has all ratios and if I want a 'special' ratio then the price goes up a considerable amount... i mean do i ask for a 3.9:1 watch him double the price and then take the 4.875:1 for cheap?

I've been thinking about doing that to my shifter but unsure what the best method is, do you have any pics?

I will get some more pics tomorrow, still have to clean up the grinds on the ears, the shifter is the only bit I am concerned about, it was glowing nice and red and cooled in oil so should be strong.

Basically like this although I didnt have room to just redrill the hole I had to extend the ears 20mm, the hole is now 35mm higher than before...

Here it is finished for now, would like to make thicker side plates so they slide over and come closer to the shifter pivot, then I can use standard bushes.

Do you have a bar going across behind the dash?

The car looks really nice you obviously follow the KISS theory.

No unfortunately, if I had the money at the time I would of got seat rails done and an underdash bar. The underdash bar would be great for mounting the pedal box, that was a pain to get fitting right into the old support for the steering column. Getting a nice new mig at some point so if I do a strip down at some point I will weld them in myself.

Thats right I like functional and simplistic haha...

Nice work on the short throw shifter Sean.

And I love the Al Fresco Trio of Dips coming through the dash in case you get a bit peckish during the drive...... Salsa, Avocado Dip and what's the third?!

So what sort of power is it making Sean?

Onion and garlic mate, then no-one will want to get too close to it!

I reckon its making sweet f-all... its got a SSS cam advanced up at the moment, I took the hot cam out before I went to Mallala as I can't get it running nicely up and down the street, realised on the track though that it would be ideal I was revving it a lot harder and it didn't really dip under 4000rpm all day, you can feel it pulling until around 6500rpm. So Im putting the cam back in once I've sorted out the seats and its back on the ground, just doing 1 job at a time.
