Sorry to sound like such a Novice, but with the OHC, do you just swap the cam on top of the head and that's it off you go?

About that shim, if your faces are flush and flat then I don't see why it wouldn't be okay to run the shim on it's own. If you do what's the worse that could happen? Blow the seal between the shim?

Yeah super easy, chock the timing chain, remove cam gear and cam retainer plate, pop off the rocker arms with a screwdriver and slide cam out, install is reverse with a lash and timing adjustment. (my good cam is a new billet cam so I don't have to alter rocker geometry with lash pads etc.)

I think I'll go with the head shim then, might run cam first and then see how it goes with the shim in next time, got a new clutch and flywheel to put in as well when I can find the time, flywheel only weighs 6kg.

i like the set up, espcially the shifter itsel, nice and long throw but shorter travel. would be nice on the sss box

A-series shifters would be the same to make, if you had a 10mm metric tap you could tap the original pivot holes in the gearbox then theres nothing in the way of the lower part of the shifter.

can also use an r30 shifter instead of lengthening the stock one as they are a bit longer between the pivot and the end

Hey Sean, Well done on getting the car going! i was going to say finished but these things are never finished!
It looks great.

If you feel like a big drive, A few Vic members are thinking getting to a sprint round at Winton later in the year. Be great to see your car.
I`ll get a thread going.

Thanks simon, if you looked at it today you'd think I just started the assembly, bits everywhere, gearbox is out front suspension is out... ahh well!

I might look into a meeting away at some point, might have to stop past pigdogs house and pick up his motor...
