15000 on a FJ is cheap if its been spent in the right places but looking at the turbo manifold i doubt that but he may have a crook for a machanic, i know of a couple of FJ's that have had a lot more then that spent on them lol

In my time on this earth I've spend nearly 15k on an A series
More on a 350 Chev
And close to that on a 308

No-one said cars was a cheap hobby if you do it right and want the best
Being in front costs cash

$15000 on the bare engine i think is a bit much, not saying its hard to believe. seen many small block chevs and holden v8s that have had more than that on the bare engine...but they have alloy heads and stuff that they can buy

might have spent a #OOPS# load on getting the head ported real well and stuff like that that you can get most of the gains in the first bit of work then have to do a whole heap more to get the next little gain

but he also says its a 2.2 stroker, and that its been bored to 2.2 litre. stroker #OOPS# aim cheap, sleeving an engine with custom pistons is cheaper

would say he went the expensive way about doing stuff though, as it cost me $2500 for my forged rebuild on the CA, cant say it would have been possible to get to $15000 without lighting a fire out of $50s to keep myself warm whilst the engine was being built

Beaut car but 15k on fj with fact cast ex manifold doesnt add up.
Still for the car itself its cheap unless its full of bog.

Consider this; here in the USA we have spec Miata, essentially stock engines and people routinely spend 5-7K on professional builds / rebuilds. Also note if you have a Formula Atlantic (4AGE) a simply rebuils will cost 11-13K.
Now do I think this is insane, sure but to each his own. To add a little more perspective if you wanted an all out vintage 1200, you'd have 8K easy in an engine, 2K for a tranny, 2-3K on suspension etc...........it would be real easy to get over 20K in no time...........and the final bit of fun, how about 8K on a single cylinder engine for your Shifter Kart.

Factor in labour guys... that is where most of the money would have been spent. Speedflow fitting cost about $50 a piece unless you know sumone... :P

Id believe that... There is actually nothing wrong a cast manifold, in fact its better than any steel or thin walled turbo manifold as what is one of the key things which drives a turbo...? Heat... Not even a ceramic coated manifold and a turbo beanie can retain as much heat as wat a cast manifold can hold. Only real downside is the weight of the damn thing...

Could be for clearance issues also, its pretty tight.
The FJ20 with forged pistons and prepped rods can handle 600hp
so stroking it to 2.2 could have been that this engine started
as an NA and became a turbo eventually so its overall life it
could have changed guises and cost a total of this figure.

If it was 2 door it be gone already though
