Now that is tricky!

In terms of difficulty the manifold flange swap would be more difficult, it brings the manifold to the same bolt pattern as the head but the manifolds runners are still round port and the head still oval. Meaning it will all flow only as fast as the round ports & runners will flow.

Do you want me to get some prices to get bigger valves installed + full head recondition + mild port work on intakes?

I reckon you should throw all the gear onto an A12 round port head and get it onto the engine. Do you have someone to help you do this?

good ideat too, and the extra spacing would be like extra length in the runners.

Late a12 head will bolt str8 onto the "big blocks" use single round port manifold and away u go easy as.

IIRC (and I may not)
A12 head = single bolt above intake
A14/15 = twin bolt either side

Can drill and tap either head type to have both sets of holes.

Head swap is so easy, really its childs play, just need a Gregorys or somethin to point ya in the right direction and someone to talk you through setting the rocker-pushrod clearances.

A simple trick is Rock Cylinder #4 Set #1

(By rock I mean when u move the crank back and forward/left and right the in/ex pair of valves for that cylinder move up and down. If u got it wrong then only in or ex will move as you move the crank back and forward.)

Rock 4 set 1
Rock 3 set 2
Rock 2 set 3
Rock 1 set 4

Easy as mate.

ha probably not at the moment! Im in my off work season so Ive got all the time to sit around and think of stuff like this...but the downside is low cash so im not sure I could afford the full works. A Good time to aqquire the parts and knowledge though...
So what would be the point of porting any part of the head or manifold if the runners stay the same? Would putting a round port head without porting on an a15 choke it, even with bigger valves?

Maybe the lynx is better off left to a12 or a10s. Maybe I could learn to make my own damn manifolds ;)

With the flange Idea It almost makes me think you could make whole manifolds this way...like a lamination process using multiple "sheets" of aluminium and just file away the difference and angles as you go. Would be a slow and labourious task, but you could get some mad lynx-style crossovers happening!

Its a pity cos the lynx manifold I have has had some kind of uneven work done to one of the ports and the edges filed to fit the exhaust manis, so it would have been good to chop it off and start all over again!

#OOPS# so the manifold is pretty rough? Sorry if that's the case especially seeing as I talked you into it.

Mate go the round-port head I have a heap of crap ones here that you can try porting yourself.

AN OZITO high speed router, dremel, engraver is available from Bunnings for AU$50.00 and there are also a heap of other stone bits there for sale individually.

Get some crap heads and have a go yourself, you can have the #OOPS#ty ones I have here for free. I would lend you my Dremel tool but it's all the way up in the tropics, right smack bang on the equator where I'd rather be.

When you feel you are confident enough to enlargen the ports on both the intake and the head then go for it. Take your time and do all ports at the same time bit by bit. No point going to town on one port then not knowing how far to go on the next.

Then put together a few hundred bucks and get bigger valves installed.

Bigger round ports will pull some good horsies, and I actually think this'd be a more suitable street engine than some of the more worked beasts around.

I keep getting confused with the manifold that Wurzel has and the other cannon manifold.

I said that it may be difficult to port but you'd have to have a good look at it because you many be able to do it.

Ive also been known to have a good eye for detail and a steady hand at times too...just not with ebay it seems :)

Dundee, do you have .Dxf or similar file for the both the head and carby flange profiles?

TnPShow's website has the Manifold drawings, and the Carby flange I found specs on the new somewhere...
