cturbosa, if its that cheap why have you not already got something cut down from him?
you could make a bit of money just buying r31 diffs and getting them shortened then selling them at that price. i sold my last r31 diff for a grand i think and it was only an open centred diff that wasnt rebuilt or anything

Where abouts are you? I have something different if you are interested
its an Alfa live axle with alloy centre housing, its from a four wheel
drive Alfa 33 wagon with about 140,000klms very good condition 4.11 ratio.
Im happy to swap for a 3.9 h145 centre. The LSD can be had supposedly from
the alfa 75 models as well as the ring and pinions.

Anyone wanting to use an R31 Skyline diff would be wise to also find a crown wheel and pinion from an early 6 cylinder Cortina as the case hardening if vastly superior to that of the later Borg warner variants.
The technique for shortening Borg warner housings is to use the short tubes and axles for both sides rather than the original setup of one long and one short, this requires removing and refitting with plug welds etc the axle tube and you must use a brand new short axle,I cannot stress to much use a new axle as when used in the side other than where it was fitted stock the stress reversal will break the axle with any decent power output.
Only a new axle that has yet to see any driveline stress will last.

you cant use 2 short axles and have it the right width for a 1200

you use a short axle in as the new long axle and have to cut the original long axle down to suit. need to take something like140mm off the long axle...and there isnt that much of a difference between the long and short axle

im using both the axles in reverse in my diff...what sorta power do yo think it will take to break it. as my money is on them both holding together for a long time

my mate is running 215kw atw daily with the axles reversed and the long one cut down, never had a problem still going strong
also like said before for 440 just get one cut down yourself you will never pick up a cut down one for that price
