Wow this thread went off on a tangent. I agree with much of what was said though.

Back on topic though, I've wondered recently about the plausibility of making a scratch built head from two pieces. A bloke I know once told me of someone he knew who had cut a head in two, and then welded it back together after porting it out .

I have heard of that in the past as well but dont think it would be achievable. there are too many water channels and internal webs to weld successfully . and with the availability of cnc porting machines becoming more common its probably easier to go that way with a standard head. But if you want to go all out why not do some research on motorcycle heads and see if you can match the bore spacing with say a suzuki huabusa twin cam head and mount that on a aseries block , that would be a good project!

wait there was a guy that built a L31DETT and put it in a fairlady

he used 3 KA24 heads and cut them up to form a single 6 cylinder twin cam head with 4 realy big bolt/studs that bolt the whole thing together and he then has custom cams made aswell ,but im not sure how he seated the heads together but it put out around 700 horse power ,from memory (correct me if im wrong )

Anything is possible if you have the time, skill and motivation.

I just would like a high port A series head that just has some crazy
angle to feed into the valves all made from a cheap round port.
