Hi, just wondering if anyone has had trouble with a clutch causing vibration while driving? I have changed rear wheel bearings, diff centre, tail shaft and gearbox but the vibration remains, seems to get worse depending on engine rpm, is more intense when driving over 60kmh, and changes between gear changes, (worse).

Any ideas?

Thanks Geoff.

It is unlikely, since they are supposed to be balanced parts.

Did you recently put new tires on?

No, have rotated tyres, expected that I would feel it through the steering if it was tyres.

Thanks

Not necessarily. Try rotating them back.

Does the clutch lever pulse when you lightly press on it? Maybe the flywheel, clutch cover plate are loose? When a clutch plate collapses, the fingers (what the throwout bearing presses on) will be all uneven rather than even height.

Checked the driven plate when I swapped the gearbox all seemed OK. Althogh it did seem a little difficult to get the gearbox on.

Spigot Bush? Not sure. I had hoped someone might have encountered a similar problem so I would have more confidence to going ahead and changing it.

Anyway I guess I will just have to go ahead and change it and hope for the best and change it and see what happens.

Thanks Geoff.

None of the clutch levers or spigot bush (pilot bushing) will matter when the clutch is engage. If the vibration occurs with your foot off the clutch pedal, look elsewhere.

You did verify there is adequate play at the clutch lever of course.

Ok, I found the problem. Should have looked more closely when I had the gearbox off. One of the bolts that hold the clutch on was sheared off. Replaced it and everything much better now.

Thanks to all those with suggestions.

Geoff

Glad to hear it. Such a small part can make a noticeable difference I guess.
