I have a question for you regarding the 1200 UTE. In which countries is(was) 1200 UTE ("Sunny Truck" in Japan and "1400 Bakkie" in South Africa) available? They stop manufacturing this model about 9 years ago in Japan. I think not many countries have this model. I was always wondering about this. Your information would be greatly appreciated.

Australia, New Zeland, obviously Japan and South Africa, also some countries in Central America but not sure which ones. I've seen a few posted on here from Europe as well but I think they were imported. Where are you located in Japan?

PS: Welcome! Good to see another from Japan.

This makes 3 of us I think... AFRacer and I are stationed here in the Air Force. He's at Yokota Air Base and he's got a nice Coupe he brought with him from the states. I've got a 91 Sunny Truck currently under construction.

91 is nice as it comes with front disc brakes and transistor distributor. I have 83, and 86 for parts. I am trying to fix up the 83 but it is my daily driver and I need to keep it running. Very slow progress.
By the way, do you happen to know if the 1200 ute comes with 4 speed?

I doubt it would be hard at all to modify the firewall to accept the booster. Probably just a little cutting is all. If you can find one in a junkyard just make a template of the firewall after you pull it off. Remember to grab all the brake lines in the engine compartment too as they too are different.

One more thing the later models have is grey interior as opposed to brown. Mine had all the other stuff you mentioned but no longer has the electronic carb, canister, or square lights, and the catalytic converter is empty.

The South Africans also get an unfortunately ugly roofline along with the A14/5 speed. (Good for tall dudes) but I think I could see past that with the A14 under the hood.

Yes. You are right. R- has gray dash and L- has brown one.

How is your Sunny Truck which is under construction coming? Do you have any pictures you can show me?

You can browse through here to see it. Most of the pics are of my truck but there's a few random ones. There's three pages by the way.

Right now all I'm waiting on are some fuel fittings and I'll be to the point where I can fire it up and drive it again. Can't wait.
