where are you from? because if you plan to register and engineer this car and engine in australia , think again your too late and no signatory engineer will touch it .

If you are go tell your dad you wanna drive around in a ute capable of doing 11's down the quarter with no airbags, no roll cage and cause you have no money possibly drum brakes???? Look at stuff all ready done ca1200 10-20 grand and they would of spent twice that, cheapest way is to buy all ready done.

10 just is drive line plus rust repairs plus paint plus rubbers plus trim plus gauges plus wheels = alot trust me so u don't got cash go out and buy a s13 you'll have ten times the fun

i already have my 1200 ute waiting, and i dont want to touch the interior or exterior just the engine

these things can be built on a budget i guess, but one thing to consider is that these projects are never finished. you'll always be throwing dollars at it while you own it. as long as you enjoy it, then its money well spent i say..

Cool you wanna just put in a 300 hp motor and don't worry about upgrading to serious brakes and diff or worry and a car that's lost strength from rust . Yer man sounds like a cheap project

Your idea is very nice and all, but I would recommend getting the ute's safety up a notch or two before you install a engine with allot of power.
Look at the brakes and suspension and get them ready for the transplant. After you have done that work, see if you are still interested in taking up the massive job of a engine conversion.
My other question, what are you planning on doing with the car?

if you want ti to go fast you will need good brakes, if you want it to turn around corners and no have major problems you need good suspension, if you want it to last you will need a good diff that will handle the power of a ca or sr.....and if you dont want the car to crumble and fall apart and become hurby the love bug when it separated into 2 then rust repairs is a must, other wise you would have bee better to go for an s13 bang for your buck.
