Hi guys

There's quite a few upgrades out there for the 120Y, currently I have S13 (CA) rotors & calipers with an adapter plate. Just can't really find an answer to my specific question, which is simply - what are the biggest/best bolt-on brakes you can fit to 120Y struts under 13" steelies?

I'm aware that my S13 brakes won't fit any more, so am looking for the best/biggest bolt-on option that will!

If at all possible I'm keen to keep my existing struts as I already have shocks, springs, etc sorted.

Thanks!

s13 will fit with certian steelies, should fit with xp falcon sttelies, not old toyota ones- had the same issues with my 200b brakes- fit under certian 13's.

id stay with the s13 set up- much better braking performance if you want to keep 13's

Hi Leigh
Have you thought about swapping to some 13" alloys?
CA18DET brakes will go under some 13" alloys.

After rolling on S13 brakes, I'd say just find some 13" alloys to clear them.

To answer the question you asked, the largest you can get under most 13 inch steel wheels are the stock 9 7/8 inch disc's from Stanza's or post november 78? 200B's which have the same disc & caliper sets as the stanza. This change in the 200B was so they could go back to 13 inch wheels. Hope this helps.

Out of interest I'm wanting to run 180B hubcaps & whitewalls, so larger wheels and/or alloys aren't options.

If the CA brakes will fit under 13" then that's a no-brainer and I'll keep them, but from everything I've heard until now they need 14" steelies. XP falcon wheels, if they clear, I assume are a standard Falcon 5-stud anyway which isn't useful given that I'm running 4-stud Nissan brakes.

Perhaps Stanza/200B brakes will be the go. Do the rotors & calipers just bolt on to 120Y struts?

XP Falcon sedans have 13" 4 stud from memory, whereas the commercial models i.e. ute, wagon had 5 stud for extra strength.
Futura and Fairmont had 14"..

Had a similar drama as i wanted to use 13 inch steelies (Sunny, Stanza Steelies) but the S13 brakes and calipers didn't fit inside either of the above rims i tried even 14 inch alloy mags were a tight fit till i ground and smoothed a bit off the calipers. We ended just going sunny struts, 200b discs and VL commodore calipers.

xm-xp falcons are 4 x 114.3 or 4.5 inch pcd (in imperial terms). perfect for 1200. i have used them heaps!

they were one of the few steel wheels that cleared my 200b set up. my superlights do too though.

most xp falcons switch to 5 stud for brake upgrades etc, you can find them cheap ish. i have 2 sitting here (one with a bit of gutter rash) that i found for $1 on ebay ages ago. will keep them as spares in case i ever need them.

They are getting hard to find but worth it if your dead set on 13's

id just go 14's or 13 inch mags that suit.
