Hi all.
I got some bad news.
I want to install a 276 performance cam into my A12GX engine.
All the people I talked to told me the engine must be removed from the car as the cam followers are going to fall into the sump or give problems when inserting the new cam.
Can someone please give me some advice?
Can I install a cam without taking out the motor?

In a nutshell no! You should radius your lifters to match the new cam you are putting in, or the cam/lifters can wear really quickly.

If you can find a way to turn the engine upside down while it's still in the chassis, then you are one up on the rest of us. Sorry, but it must be turned upside down & removing it, then placing it in a "rotating head" type of engine stand is the best way to do it

As Feral has said, the lifters should be radius ground with the instalation of a new cam, so you will need to take them out anyway. Better yet, if the cam supplier has new ones, then that would be a good idea.

takes about 1-1.5 hours to get the motor out, whats the big deal, 2 people could lift it with a rope tied to the motor if you have no way to lift it out
