Why would it have a blow off valve? if it did it would be blowing off fuel/air mixture into atmosphere. If you get an inlet backfire the belt just slips.

Whatever you do with boost, you will have to engineer your ute and considering
you have to do that you might as well put in an L series to save on gearbox costs
and availability. You could go an L18 with L20 crank and round port Z20 head for
with ports moved up and you have a crossflow engine that loves boost and the L18
and Z heads are shorter than L20 block and L series head for fitment.
There is Gary (Lemonhead) who is up your way and has most machinery at home to
do work that youll be blown away by.

The Z heads can take bigger valves than an L series and have the pro-swirl
hemi-like chamber perfect for boost or higher compression combos.

They are available still in new castings for overseas markets and the z20
head as mentioned has more potential for flow with z24 valves. The ports
can be tigged up at the top and ported to oval as indicated in the green
or D ported with rounded square top and left round at the base as standard.

standard L18 with boost would be plenty, no real need to swap and change stuff

more worth while spending that time and effort making the turbo setup better
