i've got some badges that i need to put on the car but i cant see how they're in place ... Is it just a matter of drilling a hole marginally smaller than the pin and pushing it on (with some sort of adhesive either on the badge or something on the pins) ... Or is there more / less to it?

Datsun 1200 badges are hole-mounted. There are little clips that fit in the holes, then the badge is pushed into the clips.

Some newer Datsuns have glued on badges.

Hey Hamza,

You might need to heat the paint before you drill (very sharp drill bit - brand new high quality ones are best!) to minimize the flaking of the paint. Maybe use a heat gun or hairdryer. Pilot drill might be a good idea also?

Other wise you may just have to wing it..... if you can remove your guards you could have a look on the inside and drill from the back through to the front (assuming you can see the old holes).

I would personally suggest that you snap the pins off and use and adhesive or 3M double-sided contact strip to stick your badges on. But that kinda ruins the badges (battle with conscience!)

DD its on a 1000

Chris, I thought the paint flaking would be an issue, ill give the hairdryer trick a shot ...

If i dont take the pins off and go with the adhesive idea, what holds them in place? Are they the same as the 1200 clips DD speaks of?

Normally there is a little barbed sleeve that goes over the pins and locks/bites into the holes in the guard... If you're going to stick it on you might as well snap the pins off as they will be sitting there as locating dowels not really locking into anything. Not sure if they're the same as 1200 badges, I would think so.
