Isn't the E series of engines the ones with the distributor at the rear of the cylinder head?
If so, will it be a problem protruding onto the firewall? I know that there is a fair gap between the back of the original head & the firewall, but it may not be enough.

Yep, thats true...it sticks out a fair way.

And is it really worth all the hassle...the E15ET is just about the worst engine nissan ever made in my opinion.

well i will be using a fuel and ignition computer. the reason i ask about the E15 is that i was gonna build a A15 turbo but if i can get a g/box for the E15 then id rather that motor. i have worked on E15's and i though they were alright but i have never seen what they r like when suped up.

There are no rwd gearboxes that bolt up to the E15.

However, you can adapt some transmissions to it. Check out the E15 link in the Best Engine article.

scratches head.....

Some funny little voice in my head tells me that the A series boxes more or less bolt up!

Mate of mine has done it A,box goes up but top left hand bolt dont line up.Ezy fix put a old bolt (not high tensile) in block with lock tite, cut it off level with block, redrill and tap beside it.New hole takes up some of old hole.E block also has not much to bolt a mount to the right side(back fwd) of eng to hold in bay.

Not quite sure why youd want to use an E15 engine anyway...all sorts of reliability problems

aw comeon, the E15 is a bit underrated.
sure, it aint an A, but it breaths well, responds to tweaking and has a factory turbo setup available.

They got a bad rap because in production form they cracked heads at the first sign of abuse...

Remember Christine Gibson in the GrpC EXA. That thing was as quick in a straight line as the Fury Bluebird...

I've just had bad experiences with them...I had one that was worked to the teeth and it went ok, but wasn't incredibly quick. But one thing I found with them is they have a lot of reliability problems. Cracked heads, head gaskets, dizzy problems...you name it!

I don't like them.
