I agree, the import statement doesn't hold true imo.... the engine compartment ID tag would be written in japanese kanji if it was indeed a JDM car. I think alot of sellers on fleabay, lose sight that typically car enthusiasts are the ones who are tempted to buy them, and most car people are well imformed on there preferred manufacturer.

If its an import it would have paperwork to prove it
Without that it couldn't be rego'd
So ask him for a copy of it
