there hasnt been much going on since i have been back working. im away for a week at a time. But I decided to have bronchitis this weekend so it has given me a chance to update the build thread. I've got the front struts in, 180b struts, commodore calipers, vented slotted rotors, king springs. I have nearly got the engine and box in properly, just gotta massage the tunnel a little more (for the third time!). A few of my parts have turned up, intercooler, pwr radiator, gt3076 turbo, and sparco seats but they will be here monday. Had my sigma turbo rims back for a while but will post pics up of these, i got the gutter rash welded up and refaced and painted black. here's some more pics:

Yeah I am happy with the job scott did. I know maddat has a bad rep amoungst you fellas, but hey, he has the parts and everything is done and fits. Seriously though, those struts, by the time you find them, then get them modified, rebuild calipers, new discs machined and drilled for stud pattern, you probably dont save a huge amount. Plus I have the cash to spend so why not! The car is starting to take shape (sort of). I have decided to cut the tunnel and make life easier. Plus I'd be annoyed with a gearbox rattling on the tunnel every now and then when I give it herbs. I started work on the diff the other day, so it shouldnt be far off going in for the shorten and tailshaft. Im up at work at the moment so cant do anything till next week when im back in perth. I will be sure to post more pics soon.

no need to cut the tunnel ,if you can get away with using a standard tunnel then life will be heaps easyer when (or if) you need to engineer it

its been done heaps of time without chopping the tunnel

ive found it help if you bolt the crossmember to the motor first then slide it in from the bottom ,that way you can just lift it up and not struggle to clear the steering arm thingo

might be an option ?

good to see this thing is coming along very nicely !

yeah, from the bottom is the only way ive done it, did a bit of thinking before i jumped in the deep end! i think it mite be the maddat engine mounts, they are pretty high, but if i ever need to replace a clutch, then the engine and cooler piping etc etc can all stay in, at the end of the day would be a lot quicker. plus the way im gonna drive it, there's a good chance i'll break a gearbox at some stage. Im not going to all this effort to just putt around the church carpark on a sunday!

I have set mine up so that can disconnect every thing, lower engine and box onto trolley and then lift body into the air and slide the whole package out. Its a good days work, but I didnt modify the tunnel or cut up radiator support.

I think i need to revive my build thread. I went broke in january after buying a ski boat and have been wakeboarding since. So my build stopped for a while, but i have made some progress. All the front end is in and rolling. The 31 diff is stripped and ready to be taken in to be shortened. The rear is all shaved and welded up. Engine is stripped and the rebuild has begun. Ive even sent the engineer an email to get things started. I also scored another set of sigma turbo wheels and have decided to paint it black. I will get some progress pics up over the weekend. There's a few really inspiring build threads on here which keeps me motivated, just wish i had the skills to produce awesome results. Anyhoo, we'll stick at it and hopefully get it up and running. Aim is to have it at powercruise in october. Ahhh!
