great work on the mani- i got newer extractors for my L too, can he mill that flat at the same time after shortening them to the right height if they are too long?

love the coilover design- were they bike ones? but i thought they were teaching more modern manufacturing techniques in engenieering now- wooden suspension???? you have been working too much at mercedes- i think henry ford might have a job for you on his new production line- making model T

can mill anything flat. it just costs a bit more than it does for a head as there is a whole heap more effort involved in holding a manifold in place, as there arent too many flat surfaces you can sit it on that are parrallel to flange

yeah the coilovers are out of some kinda 2 stroke dirt bike thats at dads. pretty muchthe same size as the ones i'll be getting
pine works awesomely as a spring mik...have you not heard that before?

so it looks like coilovers from the UK are the way to go, GAZ SPAX and AVO all come in around 15" extended 10" compressed which should be plenty without being that long that they are scraping on the road

also found some STRANGE double adjustables that would work.
been looking at konis too...but they are double the price of all the other brands

thought i'd start modding stuff to fit the newer driveline side of things that will go in. few holes to cut out for bungs and stuff, a bit of filing and strut tower reshaping to fit the booster

then went to see about making mount for the radiator that i had in the sedan, go to sit it in position only to find out the front of the car between the bumper mounts is 30mm narrower than the radiator...well hasnt that just ruined my plans
think when i fitted it to the sedan i may have slightly enlarged the front with the porta power which i dont really want to do with the wagon
i could cut the bottom tank down a bit and braze it back together so it fits in the gap it has. but it was new not that long ago, which i guess is now that long ago coz its been in the sedan the whole time ive had it

but yeah, really didnt see that one coming

Wow some awesome plans goin on here mate. Pine leaf springs are sweet as long as you only need to go about 1 k up the road. My ute had them when i went and picked it up it lasted about that on a car trailer and then it looked hell low. Tyres were sitting up in wheel wells. That was the previous owners idea of a rolling shell. Had to put leafs in it to get it off the car trailer.

estyre, i think its a case of you get what you pay for, when a really good copper radiator is about $500 from a real radiator place then an alloy one for $200 is a little on the cheap side
i'd say theres a reason why all the brand name ones are around $1000

ive done tailshafts myself, and with good results. but i wouldnt really recommend it
the ones that i actually use in my car i get done at a proper tailshaft place as its only about $120 for one to be shortened and balanced

yeah andy all kinds of cool #OOPS#, not even the stuff i get from other cars i modify just to be a little different

so, been slowly doing stuff as i have time...which i dont seem to have a whole lot of lately

all the panels are just sitting waiting in primer all sanded back nicely ready for paint. shell is much the same just gotta fix up the drivers rear quarter a little and give it a final sand

but ive decided to do all the things i need to do to the engine bay before it gets painted rather than waiting till i put the CA in. so ive made a couple of holes in the firewall for random things the CA needs, made up another relay box holder thing and got onto the radiator mounting

so instead of cutting the radiator down i decided to fix the probelm with a hammer. had another look at cutting up the radiator and then it just seemed like the easier thing to do to just make the car bigger. so now the radiator fits, with about 2mm clearance either side
started making up radiator mounts that will be a whole heap neater than the ones i used in the sedan, even though they are pretty much the same thing

primed up most of the little body parts that i'd forgot about, door hinges and vents and stuff like that. also giving the quarter window frames/dividers some fresh paint

also remembered that ive gotta paint the rear seat bases, so got onto cleaning them up and giving them a coat of etch...lots of surface rust on them to clean up which was fun

Kinda forgot to take pics of the small progress thats been made as im that out of practise with the whole build thread thing. but i did get some of the seats today
