I got the new (NOS)speedo cable today from the US today and it has no rubber seals?!?
This will leak nearly as badly as my old cable surely, anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

rtv gasket goo? permatex red high temps good for sumps and there is a special atf one too.

I have the gasket sealants but would prefer a rubber seal, might try it in the end anyway Mik.

in the end lol, not of me. Gasket good is strting to become my new best friend- when it works.

It worked well on my diff centre.

Try it and see how it goes, my factory one currently fitted has no seal on it and I didn't notice any leaks. Isn't the seal integrated within the actual speedometer pinion unit?

Otherwise grab a rubber washer from a hardware store and try that.

The old one has a seal which is broken, but I might check the speedometer pinion unit seals aswell.
Thanks Chris, I was focused on the cable but should have looked deeper into the problem.

hey nigel i have a hole box of different size rubber seals all you would nee is to put one on the nut if you want one bring it over and we can see what fits best

Its Ok Brett I found the problem, the little retaining pin was missing, the shaft and seals was quite worn aswell. It came apart whilst I was removing it!
The new cable is a very bad fit, inner cable is way too long so chop chop!
