I'm tossing up whether to enter the track day....
Also just a small things, it says on reg's; "All vehicles require a working seat belt for the driver as fitted by the manufacturer or better and in date"
Does this mean that my standard non retractable seatbelt will be accepted?
Would love to see as many 1200s down there as possible!

The way I read that section of the regs is that you are fine to race as is. However, if I ever have a question mark over something in the regs I send the organiser and email and then print off the response. The printed response then sits with my Cams license and entry form so if there is any issue during scrutineering I can readily produce it.

DA75EZ,your standard ADR approved and fitted(at the time)seat belt should not present a problem as long as it is in good condition, not frayed or cut etc. anywhere and generally looks the goods.Having said that,do yourself a favour and go purchase a 4 point harness.Any harness is worth at least a second at any circuit and will work much better in a worst case situation if fitted correctly, hope this helps. Quote: This was what I decided too Ange.
To hire a trailer in Brisbane for a long weekend costs somewhere between $300-$400. They are usually extremely heavy too meaning increased fuel consumption and more strain on the tow vehicle.
I went thirds with my old man and brother in a 450kg trailer that is rated to 1.5 tonne. Haven't looked back and it has more than paid for itself over the past 2 years. thats exactly what i want! a compact trailer thats just enough to fit the datto on, lightweight, easy to tow and doesnt take up too much room to store like servo trailers. just gotta find one!

How do you go about fitting a harness? I know a little about placement of shoulder straps and such but can anyone go ahead and do it or do you need an engineer or otherwise? Cheers

there should be child restrints in a sedan, just needs reenforcement under the parcel shelf. 2 or 3 mm steel palte should do, and weld it in m=nice and broad, to spread any potential load across the rear parcel shelf.
oh im no engenieer but this is what ive seen done, in cars that have been engenieered (only a couple). wont work in a coupe or ute though

Hey bert, thats exactly what i'm going to do in the near future just didn't know if i had to chuck a harness in before the nats or the old belts would be fine. (They're in perfect nick and all that.) As for mounting I was just gunna weld a harness bar across the top of the back seat.

Guys,as unfamilia has said,go to the rear parcel shelf and use plates underneath, the minimum size and dimension of which are available on the CAMS website/manual along with ideal angles for the shoulder straps. The hip strap mountings will screw into the factory points. Some states(registration)require engineering to use harnesses,so to make it simple,i recommend leaving the original belts in and functional and have the additional harness for motor sport,if you use the right floor anchor fittings you can use the same pick up points,or simply use the plate system underneath, these plates do not have to be welded in neither do the parcel shelf plates. If you follow or exceed the minimum regs and do a nice job, you'll likely get a pat on the back,a rubbish job will likely have you going home early, bolt size and grade can also be found in the CAMS manual in the same section.
