HI guys can you please help me i need to know how do you calculate the degrees of a cam shaft and how do you know if it is a billet or cut cam?? Please because I what to buy a racing cam for my 1400 ute but they guy can't tell me what degrees of the cam is and if it is a billet so I don't what to buy something thats not going to work!!!!!

if its billet then it should have the same base circle as a stock cam, if its been ground then it will have a smaller base circle than stock...thats generally anyway, some cams you cant go any bigger than the stock lobes as you then wont be able to fit them through the cam journals so even the billet ones have smaller base circles
casting marks are a good way of checking also, as a billet cam will have been machined out of a billet so shouldnt have casting marks i wouldnt that thought

to check the duration of the cam, only way ive heard of doing it is putting it on a cam grinding or similar machine and finding out that way...which costs just as much as getting a stock cam ground anyway

there is a name on the cam LAMCO R64 does anyone reconized that name!!!!!!

a quick Google for Lamco reveals there is an engineering company in Pretoria by the name of Lamco that do cams for multiple engines, Ford, Mazda and Nissan..

They don't seem to have a website but am sure you can track down contact details..
