If you wanted to do some price comparisons then here is Stewart Wilkins' website. There is a little bit of way finding to find what you need but most of it is there.

SW Motorsport

I purchase my stuff from bige and would recommend him first.

Otherwise you can order through your local parts store, just have a search for some part numbers and off you go.

Your cheapest cheapest way would be to scrounge eBay and buy slowly over a few months you can save up to 75% but yeah takes a while. I always grab some bearings or piston rings when I see them going for cheap. Just to stash away for when you might need them.

Well yeah sort of but depends what you're doing and how much you know. It's always good to get someone on side who knows a bit more. Otherwise get a professional to do the bottom end (block crank cam pistons etc) and get him to reassemble just the bottom end. Most first-timers muddle the cam setting or forget the tappets or put the bearings in the wrong places etc etc so best to get the bottom end built by a professional. Should be cheap too seeing as it's half a small engine. And normally when there is something that needs attention, the builder will spot it and let you know. Everything after that is pretty straight forward, timing can be tricky sometimes and the tappets are often tricky as well but once you get the hang of it you're all good.

If you can watch someone assemble one the first time then you should be pretty good to go from there.

Doesn't mean you know what you are doing tho! Lots of tricks to assembling engines but the A series is a good one to start with..
