Hi, ive been told that the diff from ford english axle will fit datsun B110 saloon.
Is this true as ive got ford slipper ready to do?
Or should i do a axle swap to ford and have a prop custom made?
many thanks Paul

We have heard about folks fitting a Ford Escort rear axle assembly to a B110. But it is not a bolt-in, you probably will have to fabricate custom Propeller Shaft, brake line & cable adapters, and maybe move the leaf spring pads.

Just use the escort wheels on the back.

ive sourced an axel already from ford anglia saloon its about the right size, ive got a 4 speed bullit box and full race 1760cc ford pushrod. sitting there as plan b.
plan a:in the meantime ive had some nice bike carbs fabbed for the original engine and janspeed exhaust system ...
so with a cam upgrade/ porting larger valves(trying to find cheep) may go well.
It would just be great to work from axel towards box then engine

You have the only 2-dr sedan in the UK?

Looks good. But may 1700cc is too much

I run a Ford Cortina Mk2 English diff in my B110 Coupe racecar. Made the change some years ago now to get better ratios selection; LSD; stronger than H145. As I recall:
- Leaf spring pad spacing was the same but angle was wrong so ground off welds then rewelded in the correct positions. The axle length is slightly longer than H145 by maybe ~25-30mm per side.
- Prop shaft - I used a B310 unit which is the same size and has the same bolt pattern as the 'Small' English pinion flange. (In my case I did have to get my propshaft (professionally) shortenedas my engine is set back. Not sure but suspect this may be the case in any B110 as the B310 is a bigger/longer car?)
- redrilled the ford axles to 114.3 stud pattern.

A series race spec. I think the Ford English axles are ok up to around ~200bhp (yes I know its torque that matters, but bhp is generally easier to estimate.) A mate of mine ran same axle type in his heavily modded Escort racecar which ran a 200bhp Pinto engine and no diff issues.

I used 4.44:1 diff ratio and I think he ran 3.9:1. Wouldn't want to run the low ratio (ie numerically high) diff with a large/torquey engine as the axles/half shafts twist and break due to the torque multiplication.
