Hello everyone, My Datsun has new spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, timing adjusted, new pc valve, gas filter and air filter. Turns right up in the cold, choke works perfectly and stays nice in idle. But when I'm @ a light and hit the pedal, it feels like i'm dragging a trailor !!! Then it coughs a couple of times and then it get and goes. If I try to keep it around 55 mph, it feels like it wants to stall but if I hit the pedal to the floor it runs good!!! The car just passed inspection. It has the original A12 with all his hoses and everything. Any ideas ? I hate driving a slow car :(

Check the timing or sounds like the carby mite be blocked, take the air cleaner off while its running, rev the #OOPS# outta it then block the inlet of the carby with something that will seal it but not get sucked into the carby if that makes sense. The suction will help clean out anything stuck in the carby and mite fix your problem. If not perhaps a carby rebuild.

I got home and took the carb apart and cleaned it and put it right back. Adjusted the valves and the carb and rechecked the timing. Test drove it and it ran a little bit better but not 100% !!!

I air blew everything on the carb plus carburator cleaner.I took out all the jets. Today this morning it was sneezing more. On one ocasion it stayed acelerated and it didn't want to go down. So I kept driving to work until I noticed it wasn't stuck no more. Can it be the distributor ? It used to be points but I installed a Petronix to convert it to electronic along time ago! It's driving me crazy,

did you use compressed air on a carby ? or did you just blow the parts clean ?

cos putting pressure through the carby will damage the needle and seat and mess up the float level and cause the carby to either overfill the bowl or not fill it enough

so be carefull with preesurised air and fragile parts like carbys :)

good luck !
