No Mik, it is a 71 series box. Not a 63 series. Completely different. Moving on...
Putting the gearset togerher to check if it is all assembled together.

Then fitting the input gear and the needle roller. Which I lube with high temp grease and plenty of oil. As this bearing doesn't always get a nice splash of oil on startup.

Then with the sandwich plate mounted in the soft jaws of the vice with the bearings installed and the retaining plate locktited into place I use the heat gun to warm the bearings up aenough to not burn them but get them hot enough to burn your fingers so that I can install both shafts at the same time without having to use a hammer of any sort.

Heres a bit of useless trivia, a Datsun 71 series box uses the same cap screw to retain the sandwich plate bearings as a Lamborghini Gallardo. True.
It is also a good time to check and make sure that all the gears allign up correctly and that none of the spline gears are in danger of running into the dog rings.
