fair point, it;d pay to read threads like this

temp rating for a1rm is 780 i think bendix is somewhere around 500?

a good pad and fluid combo is essential (i use lucas rbf600)

i have cooked my fluid at sandown which cosequently burst the rear cylinders which left me with 0 brakes at the end of the back straight!

In my experience it doesn't take long at all to get up to temp. Always fine within half a lap of wakefield.

Maybe with the answers, people are trying to keep it simple, If the bendix worked, try the next step up (QFM's), but dont go crazy, one step at a time

Id say doing a complete flush of the fluid and replacing with good fluid is a really great idea while your at it.

i think i'll try the qfm's..... keen to hear mattys experience with them

Back from QR and I'm not overly impressed with the QFM pads. The "feel" wasn't as good as the Intimas and I experienced massive vibrations as the pads got hot. Having said that it could be as simple as me not bedding them in properly. They didn't come with instructions so I bedded them in the same way as I have always done. The track was wet today too so that may not have helped things.

I much prefer the Intimas and will be refitting them tomorrow. I have never had a fade issue with them and they give very good feel. I do change them once they reach half worn as I have had a set start to crack around the edges previously once they got below halfway.

FWIW I used to use Motul RBF600 and never had any fade or boiling issues with it. I have since changed to Penrite Sin as it is significantly cheaper with no degradation in performance.

Ange - I know a number of people who swear by QFM A1RM pads hence why I am wondering if it is a bedding in issue. Up to you mate. They are cheap enough to try and see what happens. I have listed an Ebay link to the type of Intimas I use although they aren't the correct size.

Ange I pulled the A1RM pads out on the weekend and sent some photos off to Greg from GSL Rallysport.

It appears that, in my case, there has been a pad/rotor interaction issue due to me not having the rotors machined before fitment of the pads.

I have refitted the Intimas and will hang onto the A1RMs for when I next replace the rotors.

As always Greg was very helpful.

Regards Matty

i wondered if that might be the case.... thanks for the feedback
is it becuase the intimas leave a layer of pad material on the disc? or just becuase they wont bed in on a used disc?

i dont plan on machining my discs this time round so maybe i'll stick with the bendix pad i have
ill have to pull them out and get the part number off them.. ive got a hunch they might be ultimates though...

Greg explained that the A1RM is known as a transfer pad meaning that it transfers itself onto the rotor. The Intima pad material remaining on the rotors was preventing this.

Have you determined your pad shape yet ?

Cause if its small caliper to suit 250mm disc Bendix don't make Ultimates in that shape
So thats not what you have

Maybe find out what your actually using so you have a baseline for suggestion

'street road track' and 'race', which i cant find any feedback or availability info on...

get a set of each and try them on the day. surely you will be allowed to change pads between sessions.

road, track sounds like the old ultimates.
