Nope it's best if air dried to do it over time

At the risk of stirring up a hornet's nest 2-Pack is deadly stuff, i hope you have the right sort of respiration gear or you could end up pretty sick.

I did mine in acrylic for that reason and still used a commercial type mask

2pac is harder to spray to and is best baked as well

Yea I have a respirator that I'll use when spraying. Can't go back on the 2 pak now that I've already spent the coin on it, wasn't cheap either, that's why I want the proper size air compressor to do it or else its a huge waste. Won't be able to bake the paint either so I just hope the hardener will do its job.

As a spraypainter i wouldnt paint any colour at home unless it acrylic, or maybe a small 2k blend on a car that i didnt care about. I have primed cars at home with 2k, but would not recommend it, the fines if caught are massive, and its evil stuff for you to be spraying outside of a booth. Also respiratiors are no good unless the charcol filters are new. Plus no matter what precautions you take any repspray done in a shed will look rubbish. Why waste the money on paint?
At home i run 2 cheap 50lt compressors joined together, and its still not really good enough.
Booths can be hired fairly cheaply, and will save you time and money in redoing something your not happy with.
For just painting small parts im sure a cheap 50lt, 2.5hp compressor will do, just gotta wait for it to build up all the time.

I think the capacity of the tank takes priority over HP (to some extent).

Hire a big bastard from Kennards hire and give it a go.

I have heard from a friend who also struggled with his compressor when painting cars that he once added a bunch of LPG tanks to increase the volume of the compressor's tank. It helped but puts some stress on the compressor motor because it now needs to work much longer to get all the attached tanks full. Might need a little rest to give it a break from running the whole time.

I cant comment on the 2 pac as I,ve never used it but maybe you should think about selling it and buying some laquer. The paint I always use is a PPG product and its realy good stuff, its much better suited to a home job as its an air dry paint, you need about 15 to 18 temperture so it can be done outside, no need to worrie about dust etc as its dry as soon as it hits the car. I,ve done 4 cars now at home with this paint and the last one done over a dirt driveway.
Two pac paint is mostly used in paint shops because its a quicker job as the finish is off the gun, it goes on thicker and will have more orange peel. With the laquer you need to spend more time bringing the shine up by giving it a good cut and polish so is not used in a paint shop as much because extra time is extra cost but you can get a better finish with laquer.
I can help you with this and you could get a really good finish buy doing it youself at home.

Agreed. Unless its going to a paint shop dont bother with 2k. Acrylic is cheap, easier to spray if your only begining and very easy to cut back and buff. Also much easier to get the car reasdy for colour, plus no fines if your unfortunate enough to get caught.

And yeh 1200GXman extra air tanks makes it easier, but the downside being that the compressor will work alot harder to fill it. If im spraying with my compressors i set up a big pedestal fan pointing at the motors, overworking them makes them very hot, and i suppose its only a matter of time until they burn out.

Well I am in quite the dilemma now. I've read all your comments and its really got me doubting myself.

Only reason I chose 2 pak is because that's what the paint shop recommended. Of course they would, it costs more $$$. Not sure anyone would want to buy such a bright orange as mine at this point...maybe you estyre haha?

I think I am going to give it a go and see how the first coat turns out?
