B310 Cross Rod

Hi,
While lying under the car doing the gearbox/clutch I noticed the rubber boots on the steering ball ends are "rotted". At first I thought it was excess grease but in fact the rubber covers have softend so bad you could tear them off like dough. So I've managed to find the part numbers for the tie rod end but I'm stuck at what to do with the Center "cross" rod? Can I replace the ball ends? Do I replace the whole part? Any ACDelco part number for it? The car is a 1979 RHD B310 if that helps.

I've reassessed the situation and with the steering box tightened and the front wheels off the car there is pretty much no play in the ball joins so maybe if I can just put new rubber covers on them I'd be ok?

I bought these and they measured up perfect to fit my 1000 cross rod, just choose your size (they also have larger ones in the sellers store):

Too late, after work I ordered some locally. Thanks anyway.
My tie rod balls seem in great nick, no slop, and cant turn rod with my hand easily. My plan is to remove them, clean them, pump "flushing" grease through them and then reassemble with seals/grease.
