haha yeah thats why i started the SR conversion. im going to have a few more chats with Kev and some of the QPDC boys and get some more info, maybe get a few rides if im lucky to help me decide.

havent even started looking into 12A rotary yet lol ive never owned a rotary and Ange's ute seems to go very nicely.

Factory A series EFI and turbo was mentioned, would it be cheaper than carby turbo? You could run an intercooler then.

if i could find all the parts for an EFI setup suited to an A series cheap enough i would be very interested, especially if it was all 'bolt on'. The off putting thing with EFI A series is i would have to pay someone to make custom everything. The idea does interest me very much though as it would help with cold starts and fuel efficiency would be even better.

Yeah fab costs are pretty high, but if you do a simple quad throttle setup like lagwagon the manifold should cost no more than $300.00 to make which is about the same as a twin weber manifold. I have a stainless one here for an oval port head that might be able to be used but it would need some checking of throttle bore spacings and may need to be shortened to clear your strut towers (shortening will also affect bore spacing).

Sounds like you're in the same boat as me.... 'which engine to spend money on?'

I say build or find something to get you on the road and have the other being built as you go.

I would say A-series though...I'm just stuck between NA or FI.

put a 12a in you wont be disappointed and it would probably work out costing the same as a ca conversion depending how crazy you go with the motor. i've owned both and the rotor was the most fun simply because of the noise brapbrapbrapbrapbrap lol

yeah Chris the quad throttle body setup using a webber manifold has crossed my mind, Kev has mentioned it before so ill have to quiz him a bit more.

John i am seriously tempted by a 12A as i have never owned a rotor, what are the costs involved in building a reliable, streetable rotor thats going to make me smile when i put my foot down?

i own a datsun 13b n/a carbi, if i can put my 2 cents in, i would go injected for early morning starts, the power you get is better than my sr20det 180sx in every way. shifting gears quick will leave your ute loosing traction and shifting 3 meters on the foot path if your not carefull n thats a stocker 13b with standard carb.

if its a daily ute i would go something more injected but if its a weekend toy the a nice bridgeport on a saturday night cruise is always a sexy sound and everywhere i take it i can hear them comenting and really giving me the thumbs up..

if a 13b was legal i would be going for that straight away, injected NA 13b from a series 4/5 RX-7 would be my first choice but its simply not registerable. i could do a 12A now and have it engineered then put a 13b in later but thats dodgey lol

well everytime i put my foot down it would skid so if that doesn't put a smile on your face there's somethin wrong with ya lol had pretty good gear ratio actually. as for reliability you have to keep the maintenance up to it making sure it's tuned properly is a big thing especially with a carby and just usual stuff really. as for costs it really boils down to how much you want to spend the motor will be a minimum 3500 rebuilt and ported then you gotta buy a carby, get it tuned, exhaust blahblah i can give you a break down of what i spent if you really want. if i get my hands on another 1200 ute i got 2 12a's in the shed waitin for there time to shine lol
