While hunting around online I stumbled across specs for the Yamaha Genesis 4 stroke snowmobile engines; 3 cylinder, 150 HP and 145lbs. This could possible be an alternative for a track car..................living in the desert though don't know much about snowmobiles. I do know they use a CVT belt drive but have no idea if it's possible to bolt on some sort of coupling to attach to a transmission...........just food for thought.

thats coz on monster garage they are pretty much #OOPS# at building anything

basing any kinda of real life decision on what monster garage can achieve would be stupid....they couldnt even put a fibreglass shell on a super cart with a bike engine in it

It's a compact looking powerplant, I'm sure it would peform well in a little B series datto.

Three cylinders sound good and looks like it would fit in the B10. Does it have balance shafts?

what are they worth? 4-5K aud?

there is also a 4 cyl version but would prefer the 3 for compactness,
Im sure they are counterbalanced DD and the only real issue is making
sure a gearbox can be made to bolt up, an alfa, volvo or porsche box
in that order, the ones that have engine at the front and box and diff
at the back for 50/50 weight ratio would be best (or GTR latest beast)
The alfa box is easy to get and will make an awesome conversion using
the volvo leaf sprung dedion setup.

There is one cheaper alternative Ive been considering in the past.....

Suzuki firefly g10a all alloy 3 cylinder 136lbs complete and capable of 200hp.

Its not counterbalanced but can be balanced to a good degree and the heads
are hemi designed with very simple crossflow layout. The gearbox choice can
be a mazda 929 or 626 81-86 adapted via cut and shut bellhousing or same price
but heavier beefier w57-59 suzuki box adaptor called RingR from Tufftrail or
other suzuki offroad suppliers

Thing to remember with engine up front and gearbox at the back is that the drive shaft is doing engine RPM'S. Worth a thought

Unfortunatly Tom,here in OZ only those engine blocks found in "normal"road going vehicles can be transplanted into vehicles for competition. There are a couple of exceptions in formula libre(hillclimb only no circuit class and then open wheeler only)Radical sports, the same as you guys i expect and Aussie race cars which is a franchised one make/builder/drivetrain series.
The above all use m/cycle power.
