Well i had an interesting event

finished 9th outright and beat the other guy in my class, so pretty happy with result

the front pin on the upper leaf shackle (passenger side) busted somewhere on the second stage, we didnt really know that had happened but we knew the tyre was rubbing on the back of the wheel well, and the back brakes were jamming on

it was two and a half stages (20km each) that we continued like this until service, at service we found the broken shackle pin, and in desperation this was our best solution

swapped the back pin to the front and put a screwdriver through the other , and after frantic searching and whacking at the screwdriver we couldn't bend it, light bulb moment - put a hose clamp on it, then a bunch of race tape. We realised the brake problem was that with the diff moving back this was pulling the handbrake cable on... so that got disconneted at service too

race two more stages flat out like this, worked a treat, and made up a bunch of time. new suspension was great when i got the chance to test it out, though a bung spot light stage 5 (first of two night stages)restricted right hand turns... we had a big off at high speed as i never saw the corner until too late, car got airborne and nearly rolled. Navigator still has a sore neck from that.

so yeah, lots of adventure for us, looking forward to a straight forward race next time hopefully

no pics yet but some vid:

im car 60, after three 1600s come through, i came in a bit hot and held the handbrake for a bit longer than i would have liked to wash off some speed

The video was great. Nice to see a B series Datsun being rallied. What are you using for rear end? Is it the stock diff welded?

Mike

Where did you get that rally bar? Or is it homemade?

I guess I better make my own. I love the way this car is used. Do you plan on any power mods?

supafatto answered most of your questions, not really panning much for the car except building a carport to protect it and then tidying up the shell a bit

i have a efi hardware quad throttle body setup to suit but havent bothered to use it, i dont really want to spend the money on engine management and fuel system, and i am not particularly hungry for more power as im not prepared to spend the time and money to be competitive outright and am happy with how competitive the car has been in it's class

it does have an a14 bottom end and oval port head with larger valves installed, elec dizzy, extractors, thermo fans, just the usual stuff, definately the limitation would be in using the GX SU style setup for carburation
