My 240z has a wicked boss that's flush with the end of the spline, thought I'd grab it and put it in the ute with my old flat Nardi drift wheel... 240z spline is bigger :(

I then ordered a boss kit from ebay... they sent one that was 1mm too big and about 100mm negative offset from the spline. Wish I knew how to cut a spline so I could make a positive offset one.

Have to wind the window down so my elbow can fit somewhere, haha.

Did it tonight, made a boss kit. Happy as.

Step 1) cut the spline out of stock boss kit
Step 2) machine it till smooth strong and looks a bit nicer
Step 3) drill out a plate that fits over the spline with aftermarket bolt holes
Step 4) cut out and round off plate
Step 5) on a perfectly flat surface space up your plate so its square with the back of the spline piece and weld it

I now have my imported nardi steering wheel (came in a R32 I imported) sitting about half an inch from the steering column cover. Had to bend the indicator stem a lot but so much more room for my arms. A little too close to my knees now but still good. Down side is the nut that holds the boss on is now closer to me than the wheel so in a bad crash it would hurt. Not recommended for road use, haha

No steering gearboxes (or columns) fit the 1200 except other 1200s.

But people have fitted with fabrication:
* Rack & pinion
* New electric power steering
* cut the shaft, put a spline on it. Then can fit a 510 or B210 steering column
see Steering Gearbox Swaps
