Yeah thought it might have been you I got the inlet flange off - small world when it comes to Datsuns!
No I am not sweeping forward, sweeping them upwards a bit more (15° above horizontal)
Yeah I could start a build thread, tend to do most of my Datsun "on-lining" on nzdatsun.com, but I could have a bit more of a crack on here :) might start a summarized version, since its been about 4 years.. and still I have a 90% panel beated shell, and a garage full of parts....
Cheers Kitch

Couple of questions have come up.
Bore is 43mm on that flange (the 4AGE one) can do 45mm if required.
For people wanting to run these on the street be mindful of the size of those bores (very applicable to race and big cc A-series), they are very big, you might be able to sleeve them down but that's down to you really.

Out of curiosity, how big are the throttle bodies ? 40mm or bigger?

I have machined my inlet tubes, to kind of work like a venturi, and also reduce down to a more "mild A series" choke size. I have a machined flare at the end to match port to the 43mm bodies, and have enough size in the pipe to match port the oval shape at engine end. Have to transition Ø43mm to 38x32mm oval size some how. I think I will end up with Ø30-32mm in mid part of my tube.

Hey Kitch, yeah I didn't click when I saw that narrower shank in the runner tubes, good idea, any reason why you didn't just use some tapered hollow section? Is this method a slower more gradual way to choke it down rather than doing the conventional sleeve chokes like you see in a side draft carburetor?
Also have to suit L-Series. Send a PM.

KitchNZ, To get my inlet tube from round to oval I was going to machine up a piece of steel the same size of the ports i'm using, weld it to a piece of flat steel, heat up the inlet tube and swage it over the port size piece of steel by press and then manipulate it to shape, slicing and rewelding the inlet tube on the under side may be needed. You only need to do this for about 20 - 25mm of the inlet tube, enough to make the shape for welding.

Another way I have seen it done is to crush the CHS so as the sides come in and create an oval shape. I'll try and get a picture up.
Is there any more interest?

Yeah I was originally going to get some Alloy CHS and crush one end as you suggest. couldnt get the size I wanted though, so had my tubes machined up from 2" billet.
