They are so cheap to freshen up, I'd just pull the whole thing and give it some love...

I mentioned VSS due to the take off and then disappearing

I finally found my compression tester. Here are the results. These numbers match up to the plug conditions:
#1 oily #2 fine #3 burn good, bit lean #4 partially oily ![]() The valves were adjusted correctly, at least I could get a 12 thousands gauge in each one. Forgot to shine a light on the valve seals, hard to see inside the springs...

Well looks like the it's time for rings, two weak/ weakish cylinders................should be able to do a quickie ring job in a day: pull the head with everything still attached, pluck the block lay it on it's side and throw some rings in it OR use thicker oil, keep driving it and build up another bottom end. I'd likley go with the hillbilly rebuild...........cuase it's a street car albeit a very nice one.

Thanks Tom. I have a shortblock ready to go ... it's not my daily driver so I'm not necessarily in a hurry. I won a best in class award last Saturday in a 850 car show here in Seattle, good thing the engine wasn't running while the judges came by, little did they know..
I was planning on using this head again and found two problems: 1. #1 Rocker is binding, #2 is good. 2. #7 intake valve stem seal has popped up I guess it won't be too hard to fix those, put a new seal on #7, and swap the rocker shaft for a good one. ![]() it has these type seals: You can view topic.
