As a CAMS scrutineer his class does matter D,you see if he elects to run CAMS hillclimbs etc.,there is an up to 1600cc class available to enter and this class would be far more favourable(to me at least)than the 1600-2000 cc class competing against BDA escorts and the like.
I am assuming the class structure is common to the rest of the country.
Cheers
Rob

You would know Bert and good to know. I thought the 3 bearing cranked
a10 would be risky to offset grind a crankpin for destroking but better
than making the bore smaller I suppose; 56mm stroke would see 938cc.

We only run (in outright class) under 2L and above 2L
So I couldn't turbo my Dat as it would put it out of class
Its tough chasing down those pesky 2L (and some sneaky bigger ones)

I bought a pair of 1000 flared guard molds .... might have to drag them out and see how wide the flare is and start making some one day

Its really only friendly racing that im after, they are CAMS events but Im not chasing records,I just want to beat my mates! the guy with the gemini has built his rig on a budget and does pretty well, the guy with the datto 1600 has spent mega bucks on an injected L19, willwoods, etc, etc.

Im getting the blank rims drilled next week so I'll have a better idea of what sized flairs I will need..
Also toying with the idea of straight lpg as I have plenty of lpg systems at work! Anyone got any thoughts on this??

Cheers.
Adam.

PJZ often gets 73mm forgies for cheap and some can be milled for flat tops.

A guy I bought stuff from who does up rotaries but prefers to drive for his
everyday 250km round trip to work for obvious reasons has an 74 LPG turbo corolla.
Its supposedly bullet proof and has about 140-150hp at the wheels using the 1.5
pushrod 5k with diminutive round port heads open up for more flow.

The A series oval port heads kill the toyota ones and he uses the right angled Impco 200
with an intercooler as the straight feed impco 225 blow its seals.

He is in Gippsland and is full of hills and bends so the car is set up well for handling.
The impco 200 would be your best bet but what he has done with the rolla motor is a custom
inlet manifold with very long runners for extra torque which is the Achilles heel of the
A10 datsun engine and would benefit clearly for such a setup.

Is there a reason you are not using an A12 to meet the U2ltr capacity? Dont get me wrong
Id love to see and A10 turbo LPG. Its just that the a12 at 1179cc x 1.7 is perfect and
the 70mm stroke makes a bit difference.

I think I have a few of those impco 200 jobbies here, that sounds like the go.
1179 x1.7 is a tad over 2 litres, when the A10 sh!ts eventually I intend to use the A12 block de-stroked to come in under 2 litres, obviously the A12 is a better bottom end, but I'd like to dabble with the A10 first.
Cheers.
Adam.

Well Ive had the blank wheels drilled to suit datsun stud pattern and now my Panel beater and me are in discusions (arguments) as weather to flair the guards or to use bolt on flairs?? I would preffer to use the bolt on type as I like the look (with alen key studs) but he wants to flair them the old fashoned way, Hammer and dolly.
What should I do? Ive seen a few pics of 1000s with the bolt on type but havent seen any with flared guards.
Opinions wanted!
Cheers.
Adam.

For U2L the limit supposedly is 2030cc (1179 x 1.7 is 2004cc).
There are some who go bigger bores for better breathing &
then 65mm stroke using 40mm BE rods or weld & offset grind.

Id love to see what an a10 could do & then switch it all to
the a12 to see the difference.

I would say flare the old way as you`ll have to anyway.
You need to make room so you can go for the BOF you desire
otherwise youll have to cut this area later & its more effort.
