Dipped the stick on the engine the day after I got it home, oil only just touching the end of the stick. Pulled the spark plugs, all good except #4 which was black with small chunks. Set valve clearances, noticed it had H89 cast into the top of the head at the firewall end.
Vid of the exhaust, looks like I've got a bit of work to do *sigh* ![]() http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75iYT0rya74

I deleted the photo cos the plates were too easy to read, censored the plates and uploaded it again. Yeah its not too flash, but I've definitely seen worse, and they were asking triple what I got this one for, and they didn't even have an A15!!

It's on 2in blocks. I hate turbos and injection. Think I'll stick to the single dowdraught Weber, enough power for me, and it's going to be a daily/work vehicle so needs to be reliable. Apparently the engine was given to the previous owner by a friend of theirs who owned an engine shop. It definitely has some poke to it, they don't know what the engine has had done to it internally. I guess I'll probably find out soon if new valve stem seals don't fix the oil burning/plug fouling issues it has. On a full throttle run from 85 to 100k's in 4th gear, it pretty much mimics my mate's VZ SS Thunder ute in 6th gear from 85 to 100k's.

not a bad ute. Similar to what I started with but mine luckily came with a 5 speed. Good luck with the build.
