why not throw the all alloy cg13de from the nissan k11 micra into the arguement, its twin cam, lighter than most other options, nissan related ,physicaly not too big, and no engineer needed as not too big jump in capacity in standard form. It's FWD but not that hard to convert to RWD, and with a bit of work i have got one out to 1680cc.

Where I live we can pretty much fit any engine and still get it registered. Obviously you have restrictions, but I was wondering you'd probably be able to fit either a QG16DE or GA16DE(if you would like to keep the block iron), and still get it legal.

A friend of mine has an Almera with the GA16DE motor, which he fitted with a turbo, I built the manifold for him. Anyway, motor was completely standard and not even the CR was dropped. He pumped around 0.8bar into it, running extra injector and methanol injection for higher than 0.4) and was making 163kw and 256nm with it. It was totally reliable and the only thing that kept on giving up the fight was the gearbox.

I was looking at it and thought that if I ever had to build another Datsun, that was what would go into it. Nothing else.

Use the Serena GA16DE gearbox, it will hold up to the turbo as it is a 71-series transmission.

Personally I like the CR14DE from the K12 Micra. Less manifolds and hardware it weighs in at 60kg. Puts out 73kw and has VVT. I'm personally in the dilemma of this engine and the CG13DE from the K11. Both all alloy and light but at least you can get aftermarket came from Tomei for the CG13DE. A little less effort to go through when someone else has done all the hard work for you.

Saw an add for new micro don, it's got a flip cushion on passenger seat for your handbag too

I like Honda f20c still way expensive though. Sr20de autech comes close too.
