Hi guys going to change the points in my ute but dont have a manual can anyone tell me what the points gap should be,its a 1200.

HI Bakat i dont know enough about engines for it to register,i dont know what dwell is i must be the only guy on the forum that doesnt have the knowledge.Anyway i was just going to take the points out put the new ones in and set the gap can i do that or am i going to run into trouble.

Hi da75ez is the .05 accurate .

Point gap: 0.45 to 0.55 mm (18-22 thousands inch)

you can set the dwell by using feeler gauge, 0.45~0.55mm, or you can use dwell meter which is more accurate to set the points.

Guys do i also set the points when the shaft is on the open point if u guys know what i mean.Whats the gap for plugs.

Yeah when the points are at the most open point on the corner of the rotor.

set the gap at the apex of the rotor.

plug gap: 0.7mm~0.8mm
