A brand new Carb wont need much work done to it. Surely?
I like the idea of a new carb. A rekit for a Hitachi runs to as much as $90. And then you've still got to contend with warped bowl tops, worn throttle shafts, and stripped air cleaner lid retaining stub threads.
Looks like excellent value for money to me. If that was $160nz, I'd consider buying a couple for myself.

Actually, I'm thinking of chopping up a couple to inlet manifolds, and getting a mate to TIG them together to run a dual hitachi downdraft set up. That'd go great on the front dizzy A14 stroker I'd like to build. (I have 90% of the parts to do it)

hi i got my carb today and installed it i tuned it and runs realy well has great power but i have a few questions!

when the accelerator is lightly pushed the engine hesitates slightly then picks up

also the pick up is good when the accelerator is pushed quater way and WOT but at 3/4 why does it loose power then pick up sort of like its bogging then pick up? how can i fix this (not too major problem just wandering if fixable)

also it idles perfect i tuned it to highest vacuum which was around 19-20

Thanks!

bout time you got a carby sorted on your car

the carbys have two positions on the accelerator pump linkage... it's kind of selectable, if you move it to the point further out (if it's not already) the linkage has more leverage and therefore kicks in quicker when you accelerate. should help with at least one hesitation your are getting.

I note the concern about the accelarator pump leather softening up. The simplest way to check that is to take off the air cleaner and manually activate the throttle and look at the accelarator pump discharge nozzle and see how strong the discharge is. Should give a nice strong continuous squirt.

If that is all good then you should consider the jetting particularly on the secondary side.

Do you know what size are the jets for this carb? The secondaries can be anything from 135 to 150. The secondary jet might need fattening up a bit if it hesitates in the manner as you describe.
