#1 Electric Fan Mounting?
Aegis Posted on: 2011/9/25 11:25
Hey guys.
Im nearing the end of my sedan build and just had my radiator flushed and repaired. The radiator man told me to move the electric fan from where it was mounted (cable tied through the core), I thought this was a bit dodgy but it had work fine since i bought the car so i hadnt worried about moving it.

So how have people mounted their fans?

I have a davies craig fan but its mounts do not reach either side of the radiator support, so mounting with out a bracket might be out of the question.

Any help would be great as i am eager to get driving.

Mount it through the core between the fins using the correct mounting hardware, you shouldn't need a bracket, sorry cant find a pic.

You could mount it to steel brackets that mount from the top rad support bar to the bottom rad support panel. That's what I plan on once trim more of the panel away.

There was a good article on autospeed. Alternatively I thought of steel pallet packing tape and bolting fan to that. Could mount it around the rad top and bottom tanks, better than through the core

if you have the $$$ get a pwr radiator, awesome quality, and have thermo fan mounts. Mine is for 1200/ca conversion, but you can order what you want. They are expensive though.

this is a Spal brand fan that came with the 2 mounting bars w/studs on them already - not sure how well you can see it but they go to either side of radiator & I bent the ends to fit back against the rad side frame, drilled holes & put bolts thru to hold it on - works great. Its a bout a $60 fan setup & blows about 700cfm...

See some thing like that but neater and from top to bottom if can't from side to Side
I wouldn't fork out for pwr just for mounting points... If you have good working rad

I plan on making brackets and putting some latex or similar so doesn't rub or vibrate against core
