If it's heavily worked and you are looking for someone to build it for you and supply ALL of the parts you'll be looking at $8000-10000.

If they build it and you supply all of the components (not consumables) don't expect any less than a $6000.00 bill.

Obviously you save yourself a #OOPS#load by doing it yourself. But that's only if you can manage it.

There's a place not far from me selling an A15, reckon I'll just take the plunge and grab it - go from there and see what happens....

Lots of good info and realistic estimate on the dollars involved.

I'll throw in a couple more things to consider. A stock A15 makes 80HP, a full race A15 is going to be around 170HP but will need going through about every 6 hours (3-4 race weekends) if you build a hotted up street motor figure 130HP if your willing to give up a little streetability. Now factor in your gearbox, the 4 speed box drops 3000 RPM's between 2nd and 3rd, the more highly tuned the more this will become an issue. At around 110HP the motor will still be mild enough for daily driving if you wish and still move our light cars along nicely.

Finally if you spend money in one place make it the cylinder head, the A-series motor is pretty easy to work on but professional port work can't be done by just anyone.

I'm putting a supercharged A16 together which is expensive, then I have a moderately worked A10 and an A12 that I'm mucking around with.

Try have one motor to keep you on the road and one 'in the build'. Good luck with it, I reckon you should aim for something around the 2.5-4K mark, anything over that is moving into race engine territory and the dollar/kw gained is of a much higher ratio than the first 2 or 3 grand you spend.
