Howdy there all,

I am in Canada and just picked up a 1973 Datsun 1200 coupe which I plan on using as a daily runner after doing some work to it. Then over the next period of time, I plan on picking up a supply of parts to make her purrrr.

Basically I am finding that parts are getting downright scarce for these little babies. It is also hard to find sourse info for doing upgrades and simple mods with newer parts off other models that are easy bolt ons.

Do you know of any good sourse books or pages on cross referencing things like brakes/suspension/running gear, etc... that may be easier to find than the original part numbers for the old LB110's.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
I am also going to want to get some new front fenders and some flare/spoiler kit info if anything is still available.

Thanks,

Ken C.

Oh, Steveo, that is a sweet ride you have.

Hi SaltwaterCowboy, welcome to the club.

Did you buy the coupe just sold out of Camano Island, Washington?

Anyways, I have a Hollander interchange book, but there is little interchange, and few surprises in it. Basically, B210 suspension is nearly the same, and all A-series engines parts ... The alternator and starter fits from a few cars, pickups, etc.

The best sources of non-maintainence parts are:
1. eBay
2. Nissan dealer
3. Right here in the Classifieds

Hi Ken C. I'm in Canada too, & have 2, 1200 coupes. I plan on selling the '72 & focusing on the recently-purchased-from-Vancouver '73. I have some parts & contacts. Where are you? I'm in Calgary.

Welcome to the club dude. If you already have some tech knowhow, read through the old posts in the main forum.
It will take awhile but you'll be an expert by the end of it.

Hey guys,

Thanks, I am on Vancouver Island in BC and picked up this car here. Overall condition is not bad except front fenders and wiring harness, plus I have a hunch the head gasket is gone.

I will sift through the forums best I can, but if anyone has a good source for me to try for body / eng / perf parts, please let me know. I have always liked these little rigs but didnt realize how scarce they were till now. Thanks.

There is a red coupe out of Vancouver Island (Ladysmith I think). The guy that had it also had a 510 wagon. I know the island is very big ... but maybe you've seen it driving around?

WOW, hey I would put 5 bucks on it that that is the car I just bought. The dent in front fender looks identical and the black rocker stipe too. The guy from ladysmith sold it to his buddy in Nanaimo after frying the wiring. I picked it up from there. The pic looks good, but the top front fenders are rusted and a bit in rocker areas but otherwise she is very good. Lol, I was going to post a pic, now I dont have too, thanks.

Woah,

Hey man, great to see another Canadaian 1200 lover. I know BC has a 510 Club but its good to know that there are other guys in western Canada with 1200s

DaveB in Calgary has a couple of 1200 Coupes, I got a 1200 Sedan and a 520 Pick up.

How does the body of that Coupe you bought look? I spent a year living on thetis island (30 min ferry ride from chemainus) and I know its so wet out there, (the only place in the world where mushrooms grown in the back of trucks)

Get in touch man, I will be making the trip out to Vancouver and the Island alot in the future so we could meet up maybe.

Which town do you live in?

Anyway good luck with it and look after it :)

Peace

Scott

Hey all,

I found a wrecker down island that said he had some old 1200 cars in his datsun section so I went down yesterday and after a few hours drive finally found the place.

I went in and asked him where they were and he pointed "down round the bend and to the right" well I was all excited and off I went. I went through every datsun he had and found NOT ONE of the Datsun 1200's. Zero, notta, none! He had a single B210 1975 model and a 240Z plus a bunch of 1980 and up various dats. Man what a disappointment. Not even an old rusty stipped pos hulk.

Bummer ... 1200s are very rare in US wrecking yards as well.
