if you want to keep character you need to do something different. a banger efi turbo with really schmick manifolds. probably rules out a modern looking motor. simons motor has no R and D. His supporting mods are way over what is needed for a road car, and it is running e85 but its still a bog stock 120y motor inside with a turbo cam

It's all in the tune then and supporting hardware. Might be overkill but it's showing results

Yeah that would be the best way. Go for a ride in some cars and check out a few setup's then make a choice on what suits best and what you like.Its your car at the end of the day dont let anyone talk you into an engine choice that you wont be happy with.

I can't come to the cruise. I'm on night shift at the moment. I start work at 8pm Saturday night finishing at about 4am on Sunday morning. Won't get home till about 5am and have to be back at work 3pm on Sunday. So that's kinda me out!

I hear ya, did that almost 10 years. But I was young and could stay up couple days with cigs and coffee prior to redbull days...
