Hey,
I wanna change my friends 120y to a manual-
I think i know what to do....but i would feel better with some confirmation !
I know i need-
*box (der)
*clutch cable
*clutch pedal (+ brake pedal ??)
Have i missed anything ??
Any idea on sourcing these parts ? (already have box).
Any help would be great- order of assembly etc...
Cheers
Holly

Hi Holly

You'll more than likely need a new tailshaft, you'll definitely need a clutch assembly including the flywheel(Unless you included it when you said you had the gearbox), you'll more than likely need to make a new gearbox mount as well. I recently changed my 120Y from auto to 5 speed and that was what I had to do.

As for sourcing, wreckers are your best bet.

Order of Assembly ?

Remove auto box and tailshaft, incl all wiring (make note of the cables used on the reversing switch) and the shifter console inside the car.

Fit new manual box/ clutch/ flywheel and tailshaft. then the fun begins.

Remove the brake pedal assembly (you'll prob need to undo the steering column and loosen off the brake master cylinder and replace it with the clutch/ brake pedal assembly.

Install clutch cable and reinstall brake light pin switch, etc.

That's the quick and dirty answer. I'm sure there are more posts out there that can help.

Hope this helps you !

spigot bush to go in the end of the crank (centre of flywheel), the cone type thing on the firewall where the clutch cable goes through, the clutch and brake pedal are needed you just swap the pin they rotate on with correct pedals attached,

i've explained it all before try searching you may be able to find it, you also need to connect some wires together from the gearbox so that the car will start

the two a15's i've swapped to manual have both had spigot bearings in them,so you could be lucky, just dont forget to put some grease into it,as they're pretty dry,& the input shaft will wear them quickly.with the sunny's,i just swapped the clutch pedal in,& kept the large brake pedal,it was a bit easier that way than disassembling the entire dash.also, the kick down switch can come in handy,as a trigger for n02.(hint,that last bit was tongue-in-cheek).
