I've seen engines ripped out and back in, in no time,
since this is your first time naturally it's gonna take a little longer, juck remember where all the bolts came from and where all the wire went and you'll be fine, use tape and a marker if you are unsure

cheers
Damo

the time factor depends on your mechanical mindness/skill, your avaiable tools, a crane or block and tackle?, really comes down to experience and how many times you have taken Asereis (or any motor) out?

my first time on the A12 was intresting always good to have a experinced helping hand to guide you. but since then i have taken the A12 and A14 out a few times (fitted carbies, extractors etc etc) and is everything is quite easy and takes not long at all, after some inital learning

It's good to take your engine in and out a few times, lets you test the strength of accelerator cables and starter motor cabling...

Yeah I stretch tested the accelerator cable on mine If I had to do it again in an un-detailed engine bay with an engine hoist I could probably get it out in about 45 minutes to an hour by myself but I'd have to be so careful now it'd probably take a couple hours. Without knowing your mechanical abilities it's impossible to tell but figure 3-4 hours MAX with a hoist.

2332 is pretty well right on the money. I only just this weekend did what you're talking about... I took out the A12, painted the engine bay and replaced it with a shiny new A14. I'd allow a few hours but the important thing is not to rush. It's better to take an extra hour now than have to come back later. Best of Luck !!!

i whipped the L18 and four speed out of the 180B, changed the gearbox, and put it back in in about 2 hours. that didn't include draining the radiator, removing it, taking the battery out, unplugging the electrics, undoing the exhaust headers etc. i'd allow about another 2 hours for that, and about another 2 to hook it al up.

so yeah, half a day easy. get a mate to help with the engine itself though, it's a misson by yourself.
