Totally agreed thats why I would prefer to build in the country away from prying eyes or maybe one day in PNG :)
Yet if I was faced with the beurocracy like current at places like bushfire affected "kinglake". They can try and take my home away from me or to court before Ill be told what to do. Even the judge can scream out "order in the court" and Ill take it as been allowed to order a beer while in procession.
I actually want it simple with composting water toilets outside and simple water fittings at ground level, if need be ill p.ss outside the window from the roof top.
Im not really fussed about others and especially of any zombified suburban attitude. Ive lived with quite simple tribes around the world as an interest on how to appreciate the simplicity of existence and survival.
A living structure for me is to follow the KISS principles
a cave will do if I can avoid attack from most vectors.
So while these these container homes are not suited to the want it all mainstream minds of today that go from plastic asian interiors to furniture and flooring made from Orangutan`s homes they actually are more than I need. Actually I have no qualms living in a campervan done it before will do it again at an instant as long as there is surf nearby and some tourists I can bbq if theres no game.

Haha, was that an attempt at humor? I don't get it.

Sounds good, good luck with the build, regulations in Aus are way too tight for this sort of thing, shame really. I can see why an overseas option would be a preference.

But how would you enjoy it if it's overseas? Build it here and set and example.

As much as I love Australia there are just too many f.ckwits ruining this country for ones who at least like to spend their time away from shopping centres on their time off.
Ive had the best parties in my campervan and awning facing some of the nicest places al fresco.

Ill make sure the food is wearing some kind of brainless try hard wanna-be brand clothing before its considered for the plate :)

Our building code/ urban planning codes here can be brutal too. a container that is relocatable shouldn't be too bad though. I'd almost like to buy the brother in laws conainer and stick it somehwere for a batch. Except I got nowhere to put it. lol. Maybe if mums (uninsured) house gets too bad from the earthquakes (I'm really worried about it) I'll buy the container, and stick it on her section.

We had lots of shakes last nite too. I slept through most of them. (Jim beam lol) But the 5.5 ay quarter to six this morning woke me up real good.

My idea was as an emergency dwelling for persons evacuated to a safe site or as temp. accommadation on your land while rebuilding.... not for building perm suburbs.
I know of people on country proprties who use site shed and containers for shearers accomadation and camping huts ( as far as council go dont ask dont tell)
But after see what some of the poor buggers have had to put up with after the incedent while waiting for govt and insurance comp. to get their act togeather makes me thing there IS a better way

I use 5HTP to help me sleep sometimes. Makes for a good quality rest. Especially when I'm super run down or overtired.
And I'm on holiday atm. So lots of liquid rest and relaxation is par for the course.

I hear what you're saying about people getting dicked about by insurance and govt Baz. Earlier in this thread it was mentioned about the good people on kinglake. I've not heard much about that post the actual terrible event. But here things are possibley worse as people are hainv gto wait to hear weather their land can be rebuilt on or not. And having to wait for the EQC (govt insurance for natral disasters) to come and access their homes for repairs to see if it's over the $100K cap or not.
Then if land is knackered, people are left with a buyout offer from the govt for their land/house+land. Which has created winners and losers. And while it all drags on there's more big quakes, and whole thing goes back to the start. Meanwhile the accomodation component of peoples insurance policies is slowly being used up. I consider myself on of the lucky ones. My house is very near where the land has been deemed unsuitable to rebuild on. (Like 9 houses away)
So I don't have to try and replace what I have with a payout that wouldn't come close. And my house is still standing, and weathertight. I keep telling myself that one day the whole ordeal will be over. And the city will be newer, and better than ever. Then BANG! another big shake. TBH, the events are all beginning to melt into one blur. But the supermarket has planty of cheap beer. And I know my job is going to safe for the forseeable future. So we'll just keep on keeping on.
