Interesting. I know there is a lot of controversy over this because of the math and the octane ratings. But what really matters is real world measurements. The results trump the paper figures. And E85 can work very well.

there's no real controversy over it. Very common over here since it was released, as its classed as 'pump fuel' most race categories use it. Generally a CA or SR turbo will gain about 50rwbhp by switching to e85 from our previous best pump fuel - 98ron. Its basically like running methanol.

That's good to hear. E85 is not very common here, but only in certain parts of the USA.

EV has the torque (10 secs) AND the power (129 mph)

I never did like the L because is noiser with that long chain and not as easy to work on as the A. But L has the displacement.

Speaking of L-series, sticks did 13.1 @ 100mph w/o turbo.

The only way to be fair with power comparisons is to calculate power output per litre.
Eg. 320hp Yatalla headworks A12. An L20 would have to make 532Hp to be the same power/Lts.

is there any actual info on that Yatalla car's 320bhp? eg injector size? or drag times, particularly with mph?

I remember when they claimed 240rwbhp from 440cc injectors, which is a bit on the 'happy dyno' side of things... unless they had 5 injectors!

I havnt seen any more info on that car/engine. I do know shootout mode on a Dyno Dynamics Dyno tends to be Hp happy.

Im using 700cc injectors at 75% duty cycle for only 170 hp. Im sure it would be over 200 hp on a DD dyno in shootout mode.

As we all know, you have to take dyno numbers with a grain of salt. On a given day, it's fair to compare the figures of different cars on the same dyno. But with "corrected" figures etc who really knows? I've heard of dyno guys holding the (atmospheric) temprature probe in the hand to warm it up to fiddle with the temprature correction or something. And engine builds in US magazines often quote HP numbers as being altitude corrected too.
But the timeslip doesn't tell lies. Thats real world and in real time. Irrespective of what numbers a car puts out, the MPH is irrefutable proof of an engine having the goods or not. Whereas the ET tells more of a story about the chassis it's in. That ute has both.

I think the Yatala setup was just a dyno queen
as he seemed to do the same thing with the ca18det
that replaced the A series turbo.
Their 320hp DD would be closer to a real 280hpatw.
