Im wanting to seal the shed floor with an epoxy sealer. it would make cleaning up spills easy and would probably look ok too.

Has anyone here done it? any tips?

Hi Simon, Yep I did the floor in my shed approximately 6 years ago now. It sealed the concrete very well and oil spils wipe up easily. Only tips I have is to completely empty your shed, do the edges first and dont paint yourself into a corner {ha ha] Two coats should do the job. The only complaint I have about it, was the finish was a little slippery when it got wet. I'm sure there are low slip versions of the sealers around. I put down interlocking rubber mats infront of the bench area in the end.

I have put a 2pack paint on the floor of my garage... It works awesome! Makes light work of sweeping and cleaning spills. As long as you take no shortcuts and do exactly as that instructions tell you. And make sure you wait the full amount of time before driving on it as I didn't and now have 4 rubber marks where the paint reacted with the rubber after I left the car in over night. But not super noticeable.

Good luck and happy shed cleaning :)

Thats great new guys, I have to fix a couple of cracks then i`ll get into it.

I see Bunnings have a kit for about $200.

I also rang a fiberglass mob (FGI), a 24kg kit is $336 and you can add a colour pigment to it.

Im off to the shed to start cleaning!

Dulux sell kits too, should be sealed then 2 top coats. Make sure you acid etch the concrete and get any oil stains out preparation is the key other wise #OOPS# will just peel off. if you want non slip you should be able to get a small bag of the grit (pretty well just sand) you won't need much, what you gotta do is throw it down over the second coat while its still wet, there's 2 ways you can do it roll a section then grit it or roll the whole lot throw some golf shoes on and throw the grit down you have to be quick tho. Blower the grit off that didn't stick then last coat.

Sorry some of the stuff is trivial but not sure how much experience you got an also typin this on my iphone

Yep, the surface prep is where it's at.

Did our old 6x2 bay workshop years ago and lasted really well, took a lot of paint though!
Didn't use any grit and it was pretty (really!) slippery when wet, good fun when mopping the place every couple of months, sliding all over the joint

Thanks for the tips.
Its new concrete(5 weeks old). I dont think it will need too much prep work, apart from rapairing the crack. Cleaning an old floor wouldnt be much fun.

It might look a bit ordinary tho, the new concrete is up and down a bit! I did it on the cheap with a couple of guys from work helping.

The epoxy is mainly for me to be able to clean up oil leaks easily.

you can just use water based concrete sealer if its new its just as good, i cant think of the name. you have to be careful because the epoxys are self levelling so will pool up in low spots
