I've heard that rumour too, but an engineer said the law has not changed ... yet.

Legally no. Dd in Australia bit different to USA. So if you called up rta in nsw, I'm sure they may tell you that till you went for rego

It's not a bit different, it's totally different.

What is it that they will tell me? In NSW there is a rumour going around? Or that an engineeer said the law hasn't changed yet?

On the RTA web site today it says:
Quote:
Any vehicle with engine performance modifications requiring an engineer’s certification for registration purposes is banned under the prohibited vehicle scheme
So conversely, you should be able to do any mods that do not require engineer certification.

In the past as I recall hearing many times that A14 did not require engineering, but A15 did. But the RTA documentation contradicts this, stating that you can only go up 15% before engineer certification is required.

Rta p plate same for p2

Don't mean to be rude dd but probationary drivers not allowed any performance mods at all. Twin webbers etc all out the window till full licence.

The way I have interpreted the rules much to my sons disgust is no mods to engine size /carbs etc.
Go buy a V6 commodore and wrap a couple of these around trees first.Get your full license and not be paranoid of the cop car following you.
