A10 Rods Big end same as A12?? and A13 Rods in 137MM???

I'm playing with parts and have some questions:
First A10 rods, the Piston pins are obviously 17.5mm and the length is known (117.5mm) but are the big ends the same 48mm bore and 24mm width? Next while checking various rod specs I stumbled on a listing for Pauter brand A13 rods part# NIS-200-480-1370F which is basically 20mm pin, 48mm BE Bore and 137mm long....................same as stock except 4mm longer. So my question is there a stock A13 rod in 137mm length?? Here is what's up: I have an A15 engine and some JE 76mm pistons with a 25 mm pin height: I can deck the block 3mm to get the compression where I want or put the A15 crank in one of my A12 blocks and use the JE Pistons and an existing cam (rod ratio would not be the best). Also have the silly option of using A15 crank in A12 block with standard bore, using a set of pistons that have a thick dome that could be milled.................OR I could just order the proper parts, but where is the fun in that!!! Mr RS Fangio if you can get the a13 easily and they are in fact 137mm c-c you are in luck otherwise some very cheap H beam rods from a Honda B series 16/18 engine are used by Finnish crazyman "Marcus" alias : Datsun100ATurbo

or offset grind crank, increasing the stroke on the a15. then you will deck less off the block.

D,
I tried a D17 rod but BE width is to narrow, I'll see if I can scare up a used B16 rod for a test fit. Bige, I understand offset grinding but what rods would then be used? Also how much can you safely take off the deck on an A-series? Basically I was trying to use parts on hand, the only set goal was 100 hp at the wheels..............my only complaint on my car is it's gutless, with around 80 rwhp it's a huge improvement over what it was with near stock GX engine but still gutless. I snagged the A15 to go with the A/E prepped blocks that were part of my E-head A block project but we were not convinced that the A/E wouldn't be labor intensive / need constant maintenance.....................for the trouble it just seemed easier to just build up the A15. If I thought the 9.3 - 1 compression would get the horsepower where I want then I wouldn't be messing around. I'm pretty much at the point with the car to get more out of it isn't going to be cheap (well my version of cheap)...........I need to crack open my wallet or shut up and drive..................at vintage races my driving makes up most of the gap and at track days with modern cars it really doesn't matter as those are just for fun. stroking 060 thou(1.5mm) with std a15 rod, is not a problem,.080(2mm) off deck not a problem, just affects pushrods geo slightly. are your je pistons flat tops.

The JE pistons are wedge dome with valve reliefs.............the type that have the cutout/ dimple for the spark plug. I believe they are 4 cc displacement.

What inlet and exhaust will you be running?
The B series rod info just in case, they need a smidgen off the sides as they are thicker. You need to get the SPEC R rods as in the Type R models much stronger again. B18C Spec R rods are the good ones pic here http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2431/4061078382_5398c33f41.jpg They handle alot of NA hp factory

Bige,
I'll try and take some pictures and get them up in the morning. Depending on what head gasket and what i do to the pistons the compression can be anywhere from 10.5-1 to 12.9-1, I'll likely keep toward 10.5-1 as I prefer to run pump gas. I have 96 octane readily available..................beyond being cheap I'm also rather lazy, I stop and fill the motorhome, race car and gas cans at the same station...........don't want to be bothered with a separate stop for race gas. D, I'll be running the head off my A12, ported GX head with stock size valves, FCR carbs and Header. I have some bigger valves I would like to fit but I need to order the intake seats to fit them. If the A13 rods are in fact 137mm then use those and you only have 1.1mm to deck of the top of the block. Comp will still be high so you might just deck 0.5mm instead. Are the pistons 76mm?
You could run some of the additives avail from paint shops to increase your octane cheaply eg. Formula #1 - Toluene R+M/2.........114 Cost...........$2.50/gal Mixtures with 92 Octane Premium 10%...........94.2 Octane 20%...........96.4 Octane 30%...........98.6 Octane http://datsun1200.com/modules/newbb/v ... id=397286#forumpost397286 You can view topic.
