Try a piece of spring steel wire and make a c shape with 2 round holes for screw of fuel flap! So the spring pushes the door open at hinge side that way u need less force! Mine was a modded Telstar one if that helps

Bout time for another update. Have you sorted out the leaking tranny fluid?

What about the remote petrol flap?

I have been hoping to see it driving around the Mornington Peninsula...but haven't spotted it yet.

hi Andrew,

the leaky tranny fluid .... what a drama

I took the oil pan off and went down to tommo's, knocked out the dints, made it nice and straight again so it would fit snugly. We put some bonding gasket stuff on it and I took it home to refit it. - all good

i bolted it up except for one bolt which was very tight but not actually holding yet.... okay so I did it up too tight and broke off the head.... in the tranny casing. to make it worse I drilled into the bolt and forced and easy-out in there and ended up breaking the inside of the casing - see picture.

I have also drilled and tapped another hole next to it to hold the pan

So that is where it is sitting - waiting for a solution.

I have heard that some stuff called 'Devcon aluminium putty' could fix it. - anyone used it?

Nasty business!
Hopefully you can find something to seal it up with. Would be much easier than replacing the whole transmission.

not a lot of progress in the last month

went to the states and failed to get parts but came back with $400 of tools from Harbor Freight Tools (probably double that in Aus)

fixed the Auto problem
installed a new interior light ($7 from Bursons locally)
wired up the Park Brake light on top of the dash
replaced the spring loading the fuel tank release .... thanks to Nick (superfatto) for the suggestion
started sanding back the clear coat so i can buff it up
Buffed up around the windscreen opening ready for the new screen to go in in two days

here's a couple of pics

Fixed the auto with a new gasket (Service Kit), welded up the offending hole on the pan and Gasket Goo'd it all together.
Hey presto - No leaks

Oh, and the interior light has THREE positions ... ON / OFF / DOOR :)

As to when I get it finished .... I was block sanding the car half the day and got sick of it

Still have to figure out the electrical interference when i hit the accelerator
Weight test, sound test, speedo needs a Jaycar kit to adjust it, need tyres for the TRX's ...I have a list of things to do
